How to get Links to your Website

Answer

Getting links to your site and link building among your peers won’t happen over night. It takes time and dedication; and of course, great content worthy of inbound links. So before you set out to try and build links to your site, remember Rome wasn’t built in a day, so set your self a reachable target and stick to it.

Look to your contact list:

If you have great content to share amongst your customer base or with other businesses connected to you, then the best way to get links to your website is to ask for them. See what customers and contacts are most valuable to you. Don’t ask for links if the inbound link are irrelevant or potential spam. Google will know.

For business contacts, prepare for contact with costumed emails asking for trade links or referrals. As for customers, this might need a little more than an a nice ask. Loyal customers might be happy to share your links if they love your services, but others might need little persuasion, so attract them with discounts, special offers etc which may win them over and to share your content.

Always use high quality content:

High quality content speaks for itself. Visitors interested and impressed with your content will naturally share links promoting it (tweet this) . Think about all the viral links you clicked on this week, what stood out to you, and why? Look to your target audience, is there something new about your product or service that can be published in an interesting and relevant way? If not, why not?  Remember, once your users share with friends, search engines will see your ‘votes’ going up on your site.  And as always, high quality, editorially earned votes are invaluable to building trust, authority, and SEO rankings potential.

 Create a buzz:

Having newsworthy content that can be shared is vital to stay on your customers radar and promote link building. New products or new services or promotional offers with time limits will help you get shared. Attention from any press to your business is a time honoured way of gathering in the news. So be generous and send out those offers!
