“Help me bridge the gap and become more relevant” is the question that was put to us by the owner of the publication. At the time they were able to foresee the problems that the commercial department were facing when selling advertising space into a market that had been hit hard by the current recession. He needed to engage his customers and broaden his horizons a little more in order to achieve this.

Bring it on!
‘Let’s take the magazine online’ we said. ‘Imagine we can have the pages turning as a normal magazine would – except we can add interactive elements for your advertisers and suppliers alike’ they loved it and we set about creating an eZine for the printed version just after we sent it to press.

Did it work?
One of the features that we added took off like wild fire in an area that everybody least expected it! Basically, images showing or relating to manufacturers or suppliers, had up until now a mere mention in editorial pieces. But with the new added interactive pieces highlighting these companies or individuals as a pop-up feature, we were able to open up a new outlet that increased not only the business subscribing to the eZine but new interest from countries far afield who wanted to subscribe to the printed version as well.

“Help me bridge the gap” is the question that was put to us some months back by Gerry Murphy, owner of Nova Publishing. At the time Gerry was able to foresee the problems that he was facing when he went to sell advertising space into a market that had been hit hard by the current recession. He needed to engage his customers and broaden his horizons a little more in order to achieve this.

AI go E: Online Publications and eZines

Good things come to those that wait . . . It has taken a bit longer that we expected but we have finally produced the rate card for the online version of the Architecture Ireland Magazine. Issue 255 is due to launch next month.

Architecture Ireland is the official journal of the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland. Its objective is to be a forum for excellence in architectural practice, featuring the work of RIAI Registered architects in Ireland and abroad. Published six times per annum, Architecture Ireland is Ireland’s premier architectural magazine and an award-winning publication. In 2010 the magazine won a prestigious design award from the Institute of Designers in Ireland.

Architecture Ireland is going ‘e’

With the latest edition of Architecture Ireland on our shelves we are well under way designing Issue 253 which is going to have the added feature of being the first issue to have an ezine with full interactive adverts available to all its subscribers.

The current issue however, covered the 2010 Irish Architecture Awards, one of which was for the Best Accessible Project awarded to the Criminal Courts of Justice. There was also an in depth feature on the Aviva Stadium highlighting all its sustainable features and design aspects.

Jumping forward again, everybody in Nova Publishing and all the advertisers are getting very excited about the prospects that the new ezine will offer. One aspect of the new design that has really grabbed the attention of some of the advertisers is the introduction of a biography for the specialist contractors in the project section of the magazine. These will literally give a full breakdown through a link to an image on a specific contractor and the service they provide. With so many people now viewing periodicals on line the interactive adverts will give all the advertisers a chance to go beyond a two dimensional advert and where architects are involved the possibilities could become endless.

Any early draft with some interactive adverts and the current RATE CARD is available to view and anybody interested in getting in on the action should contact Cecil Maxwell in Architecture Ireland.
